My Philosophy
Okay guys , with over 30 years of experience in Health and Fitness, I have come up with a few personal principles that have enabled me and others around me to stay fit and healthy.
Folks, let me clarify one thing ; this is not brain surgery. Its just good commonsense stuff that I have learned and experienced over many decades now through trial and error , and these principles have proven to give great RESULTS and SUCCESS to those who want to shed the weight and get and stay healthy.
1. Eat Good but NOT Perfect – Having a healthy array of good Foods is so important when trying to lose weight and get healthy. Having good lean Proteins and minimal Carbs and Fat along with an assortment of fruit, vegetables, wheats and grains is paramount.
But let me point one thing out. To ALL my Readers out there you dont always have to eat perfectly. Yes, you can have that Pepperoni Pizza smothered with extra mozzarella cheese or that Hot fudge Sundae at Dairy Queen every once in a while. Its all about keeping balance and at the same time being able to enjoy Life. In my own life, if I go out and have a Big Mac and fries then the next day I might have to put in an extra mile of running or just have a fresh salad for Lunch. Remember, Moderation and Balance are key to a healthy and fun way of life !! Guys, Be sure to always smell the roses
2. Develop a Manageable long term Exercise regimen – There is just NO getting around having a Life that centers around some sort of regular exercise regimen. It can be anything from Running, Walking, Swimming, Biking, Martial Arts, Boxing, Hiking, Jump Roping, Rowing, Skiing, Racquetball etc..etc.. Right now my exercise regimen of choice consists of Hiking a few days a week with my baby girl , running twice a week with her in stroller, and doing the Total Gym twice a week. The main thing that I focus on is developing a regimen that I can do week in and week out for Years. Not months but years. For you if this means that you can only Walk twice a week for 45 minutes then just do that. But dont go out and try to Bike 10 miles a day for 6 days a week , pump iron for 4 dyas on top of that . Because chances are you will get burned out doing this within weeks and be right back where you started.
3. Maintaining a positive mental psyche in all aspects of your Life – Having an exercise routine and eating nutritionally will help your mental and spiritual status. But on top of this, you must continually focus on maintaining a positive attitude about yourself and your Life. This is extremely important. If you cant maintain your mental health then chances are you will have a real tough time losing weight and staying healthy. I personally use visualization and meditation to help me with my mental and spiritually status. And recommend this to everyone.
