<p>I see this a lot and I get asked by other people if it is a good thing to do and that is should a person just NOT eat to lose weight ?? Well, the answer is a resounding NO !! Hell NO !!</p>
<p>This is actually one of the worst things you can do. When you stop eating you throw your metabolism off kilter. Things like your Insulin levels can get out of whack and in the long run you can end up gaining much more weight and fat than before.</p>
<p>However, do not get me wrong. There are seasoned health enthusiast who do fast on a regular basis. Many of these people follow a strict and disciplined fasting regimen. They do it in a way that cleanses out their body and in the long run they can  benefit from this kind of fasting. Don&#8217;t confuse this with someone who recklessly starves themselves on and off in no well thought out plan. This is a recipe for disaster.</p>
<p>The best way to lose weight is to eat an abundance of good foods  like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and keep the carbs down to a minimum.</p>
<p>This stuff is not rocket science. Just listen to your body and incorporate a wide range of good , nutritional food to your diet.</p>
<p>Also along with this, make sure you develop a long term exercise regimen that you can do week in and week out for years. I know we keep repeating this,  but  it is just very important and can mean the difference between a healthy and fulfilling Life and one that is  miserable .</p>
<p>If you can only walk twice a week then just stick with that for awhile. However, you may need to appropriately adjust what you eat compared to someone who runs four times a week.   Obviously they will be able to consume more calories because they are burning more off !! <img src='http://loseweightlookhot.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p>One of the biggest myths out there is the myth that eating healthy costs too much.</p>
<p>Just the opposite&#8230; and I&#8217;ll prove it to you in three ways.</p>
<h2>#1:  Cash</h2>
<p>Here&#8217;s some sample figures courtesy of my friend Scott Tousignant&#8217;s fitness blog&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>2 medium size sweet potatoes $1 or… small fries from a fast food joint</p>
<p>2 red peppers $1 or… a can of pop</p>
<p>Bowl of oatmeal with fruit &#038; protein powder $2 or… large bag of chips</p>
<p>6 Chicken Breasts $10 or… a sub combo from a fast food joint</p>
<p>18 eggs $3.50 or… a burger from a fast food joint</p>
<p>2 salmon fillets $15 or… large pizza</p>
<p>Loaded chicken salad (homemade) $3 or… bag of cookies</p>
<p>Large bag of oatmeal $3.50 or… 4 chocolate bars</p>

<p>Not much of a comparison, it is?</p>
<p>Yet the foods on the left would feed a family of two or more for 4-7 days&#8230; the foods on the right? 2-3 days if you live through it.</p>
<p>Tips to make the most expensive part of eating healthy &#8212; the cost of quality meats &#8212; go further include&#8230;</p>
<p>1. Use tofu fillers in chicken and beef recipes. Even if you hate tofu, you can barely taste the difference when combined properly.</p>
<p>2. Buy your meats in bulk online. You can find less expensive grass-fed beef and naturally-raised chicken and have it delivered to you if you live near a large city. If not, check the local farmers.</p>
<p>3. Eat meat only 3-4 times per week and use black beans with rice or inexpensive tuna for your other days. I eat tuna cooked in a skillet with lots of veggies and some olive oil almost every night and I LOVE the taste!</p>

<p>Do we &#8216;really&#8217; need to talk about buy new (usually larger) clothes every year or two? Or about the health care costs associated with being even 20 pounds over your ideal weight, let alone more? How about the time you miss from work with excessive colds?</p>
<p>Eating healthy and taking care of your body adds years to your life&#8230; and for the record, the years eating poorly takes away from your life, on average, costs each American over 80,000 in medical expenses.</p>
<p>Want to add that to your food budget?</p>
<h2>#3: The Big Picture</h2>
<p>Anyone who has been fit knows the joy it brings&#8230; the freedom you feel from wearing whatever you want&#8230; the productivity you see from increased energy&#8230; the pace at which you move during the day.</p>
<p>Not only are these gifts priceless, but they are also massive cash-savers. Your productivity alone can add thousands to your bottom line each year, well off-setting any costs associated with eating quality food.</p>
<h2>The Bottom Line&#8230;</h2>
<p>Like any good accountant would suggest, you need to look at your ROI (return on investment) if nothing else.</p>
<p>What does investing in a better body, greater health, and vibrant energy do for your life? How can that actually translate into more income AND less expense?</p>
<p>You will be surprised.</p>

<p>My Associate and friend Jon Benson writes some of the most entertaining fitness stuff on the Internet, so I know you will enjoy this recent article from him.</p>
<p><strong>Caution</strong>:</p>
<p>This sounds like a silly question, but it’s really the most important question you can ask:</p>
<p><strong>“What REALLY makes me increase my bodyfat?”</strong></p>
<p>Is it too many calories?  Sure. That’s one part. But I know people who can eat 4-5K calories a day and not add an ounce.</p>
<p>Is it dietary fat? Rarely if ever.</p>
<p>Fat is necessary to melt bodyfat. It is true that fat has more calories per gram than protein or carbs, but let’s look at this logically:</p>
<p>40% protein; 40% carbs; 20% fat = 40% fat; 40% protein; 20% carbs</p>
<p>So… no. Increasing your dietary fat does not mean you’ll get fatter…</p>
<p>UNLESS… ready?</p>
<p><strong> Your insulin levels are too high.</strong></p>
<p>Elevated insulin is not only the prime cause of diabetes and a sign of being hypoglycemic, but it’s also the prime numero uno reason people get fat.</p>
<p>And insulin is stimulated most by too many carbohydrates… even the so-called “healthy carbs!”</p>
<p>HOWEVER… ready again?</p>
<p>You can still eat carbs… you do not need a “low-carb” dietplan every day in order to keep your insulin and bodyfat low.</p>
<p>You just have to know what TIME to eat the carbs.</p>
<p>There’s a time and place for everything and carbs are no exception.</p>
<p>I have a presentation here that tells you more about how important timing is and how you can eat your carbs (even sweets) and shed bodyfat…</p>

<p>That being said:</p>
<p>If I had to cut one thing out of my diet for 1-4 days it would definitely be carbs.</p>
<p>I need fat… fat helps melt bodyfat… and I have trained my body to use its own fat-stores for fuel.</p>

<p>I DEFINITELY need protein… and so do you.</p>
<p>Protein speeds up thermogenesis, or your body’s own fat-burning heat factory.</p>
<p>Protein also blunts your appetite so you naturally eat less.</p>
<p>Some carbs are healthy… and I do not recommend you cut out low-sugar fruits and green veggies… you need that stuff.</p>
<p>But you don’t need grains, breads, etc.</p>
<p>At least for a few days.</p>
<p>THEN… you need them… but only after you do two things.</p>

<p>P.S.  My favorite “Feed Meal” (that’s what I call meals where I eat a lot of calories and carbs) is this:</p>
<p>Small serving of protein (1/2 my normal      serving size) like chicken, tuna, etc.</p>
<p>Brown rice or baked potato</p>
<p>Slice of pecan pie (or Key Lime pie… yum.)</p>
<p>Then later that day I’ll have a few slices of New York-style pizza.</p>
<p>The next day I’m LEANER. It never fails.</p>
<p>The only time this can fail is if you do not set your body UP to receive these carbs and some junk food.</p>
<p>I call this my “Real World Favorite Foods Dietplan.”  That’s not the name of my System but it could be!  That’s exactly what it is.</p>

<p>Hey guys. I hope you are  having a good one today !! I want to keep it short today and talk about eating and  some good tips you can implement as part of your Lifestyle.</p>
<p>First of all , sometimes adding a fourth meal can be beneficial in your desire to be fit. This increases your body&#8217;s metabolic rate and keeps the calories burning all through the day. One might eat breakfast around 8 am, lunch at Noon, and then a in between a  3rd meal around 3 pm, and finally Dinner at 7 PM. At night time always make sure to go to bed just a little hungry. DO NOT stuff your face right before you go to sleep. This is a no-no and will cause you to pack on the fat. Believe me.</p>
<p>It seems to me that the ones who are the most successful at keeping fit and slim are the ones who keep their diets simple and easy to implement. Strangely enough this usually means keeping a small arrangement  of foods to use for your meals. And then mixing and matching in between that small arrangement of foods. Here is a short list to make it easier for you to stay on a healthy eating diet.</p>
<p><strong>Proteins:</strong><br />
Egg whites with one whole egg for flavor<br />
Grilled Chicken<br />
Organic beef that is grass fed and NOT corn fed<br />
Pork</p>
<p><strong>Legumes:</strong><br />
Lentils<br />
Black beans<br />
Pinto beans</p>
<p><strong>Vegetables:</strong><br />
Spinach<br />
Asparagus<br />
Peas<br />
Mixed vegetables</p>
<p>Now this is a pretty simple group to chose from. Like I said you can mix it up a little, but this will be the foundation of what you eat. Also, you need to throw in one day a week where you eat anything your heart desires. On this day if you want a hot fudge sunday then go eat a hot fudge sunday. If you want to go to a movie and eat Baby Ruths and butter popcorn then eat it.</p>
<p>Just be sure not to overdue it. It is all about keeping a balance in Life. And bottom line is that  enjoying Life while keeping a healthy Mind and Body should be your long term goal . <p>Well, in the last week my family and I have been transitioning in our new home that we just finished moving into. It has been a long week and we just got back internet service two days ago. Its great to be back in the swing of things.</p>
<p>My workout schedule this week is almost nil because of this move. But I did manage to get a 40 minute run earlier in the week. The place in LA that we moved to  is really a nice change from the California desert we have been living in. We will be back in a few months as this is a temporary move . But the Los Angeles weather here is beautiful and it makes it so convenient to go outside and not to have withstand 115 degree weather like we have been used to !! <img src='http://loseweightlookhot.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  Next week I will officially be back to running and working out with my regular schedule.</p>

<p>Remember, staying fit and healthy is a long term process that you need to think about the rest of your Life. It is not always easy to stay in shape and you need to develop your own personal system of exercising and eating that will fit into your Life and enable you to achieve your health goals in an efficient manner.</p>
<p>Dont get too sidetracked by trying this diet here and that diet . There is nothing wrong with jumpstarting you health and fitness goals by trying a reputable diet. But just remember to make a lifestyle change you need to change your regular eating and exercise habits from day to day.</p>

<p>I know in the last decade many people have opted to have surgery to lose weight. There are numerous types of procedures including the stapling of the stomach and putting bands around the stomach. The premise behind this is to shrink the circumference of the stomach thus reducing the amount of food a person can take in.</p>
<p>This in turn reduces a person&#8217;s craving and hunger for food. And as a result the weight pretty much melts off. Sounds pretty simple, uh ?? Well, think again because the procedure does carry some risk to it including complications during the surgery. There has been fatalities during the surgery and after the surgery. Things like infections can occur which can be life threatening.</p>
<p>There is a long recovery process and further complications can happen down the road which can be debillitating. These can include emotional problems. After the reduction of the stomach, a person can only eat a small portion of food for each meal. And this can really take a long time for that person to get used to it. Just imagine eating with a regular , hearty appetite for so long then all of the sudden you feel full after a couple of bites of food. This can really take a toll on a person&#8217;s pyshce.</p>
<p>So before you ever consider getting surgery to lose weight please think about some of these issues thatyou will have to deal with.</p>
<p>I think 99.9% of the obese population in the World do NOT need surgery. I think too many people are looking for quick soluitions to problems. Remember, like anything else in Life staying healthy and slim is hard work and is a long term way of Life.</p>
<p>It takes knowledge and the discipline and wilingess over a Lifetime to stay healthy. Although there are cases where extremely obese and sick people do actually need surgery for weight reduction, most of us just need some perspiration and inspiration !!  <img src='http://loseweightlookhot.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p>I know the most recent season of The Biggest Loser  has been over with for quite a while. But I saw some re-runs of past seasons for The Biggest Loser, and I have to say that I think this approach for most people is not conducive for losing weight and staying healthy in the Long run.</p>
<p>The premise behind The Biggest Loser is to see who can lose the most weight in a short period of time and do it week after week after week. They do this for a few months to determine the overall Winner. And during this period of time they put 300lb and even 400+ lb people through very, verystrenuous exercises. We are talking about exercises that have literally caused one contestant to have a near heat attack. This 60 something year old man collapsed doing one of these crazy workouts. Luckily, he did recover and was able to live a normal life from last I heard.</p>
<p>Listen guys I have no problems in jump starting your weight loss efforts. One of the Programs we are a part of does this. But have to say  it does not include extremelystrenuous exercising but pretty much  jump starts your weight loss efforts with an  eleven day weight loss eating regimen.</p>
<p>I dont know maybe its me , but getting grossly obese people to workout until they pass out is a bit much for me. And it is not anything I would ever condone.</p>
<p>As I have always said the best way to stay healthy and lose weight is to adopt a long term exercise regimen  and a healthy diet that you cancontinue to do for years and years.That is the route that should be taken and that is what we will always stand by on this Site !!  <img src='http://loseweightlookhot.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>In the end, just use your common sense and I think  in the long run you&#8217;ll come out ahead and have a healthy and fulfilling Life. <img src='http://loseweightlookhot.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p>Man, this Summer has felt like a volcano. We live out here in the California desert and we have been consistently above 110 almost everyday . On top of this, the last two days  have been humid. This can be a recipe for disaster if you are not careful !</p>
<p>And I know some of you guys that read my blog live back East. And even though you dont have the temperature we have here in the desert, you have to deal with that miserable humidity. I know New York City has been over 100 degrees on some days with 100% humidity. Like I said earlier these two of conditions can be dangerous for many people.</p>
<p>If you plan to workout and exercise outside please do yourself a favor and drink plenty of water before doing so. I know recent health reports have said you need to drink 8 glasses of water every single day.</p>
<p>I would even take it one step further and try to exercise in an indoor area if at all possible. Whether that be in your home or a gym.At least wait until the Sun starts going down if you have to go outside to exercise.</p>
<p>Let me forwarn you this&#8230;&#8230;..if you do go out and test the heat and try to run or bike you can succumb to heat stroke when you least expect it. As your body starts to dehydrate you might not even recognize this fact until you pass out or faint. And its too late.</p>
<p>So once again just be careful.</p>
<p>Swimming is really a great activity to pursue during the hot Summer months. You body is cooled by the water around it and you are less likely to succumb to dehydration and heat stroke. It is also a great activity in supporting your joints and feet. You tend to save the wear and tear on these joints as compared to other activities like running.</p>

<p>In a nutshell, personally I would say &#8216; NO&#8217;, a gym is not necessary to get in shape and stay mean and lean.</p>
<p>For over 20 years I have NOT been a Member at any gym. And I have done just fine. It takes some creativity some times, but it really is not as hard as it may sound. There is ways you can improvise like doingpush ups, sit ups, chin ups, walking, running, hiking, swimming etc.. that you can do on your own without paying for any gym membership.</p>
<p>If you dont want to go this route there is very reasonably priced home gym equipment you can purchase. I use one called the Total Gym which Chuck Norris has been endorsing for years on television ads  . And it is more than adequate in keeping me in good shape. I think I paid about $175 for it at Walmart a few years ago. And it is worth every penny of that and more. it is based on pulleys and leveraging your own body weight to get a workout with.<br />
Remember, even if something like this is still a little expensive for you , you can go to yard sales and newspaper ads and find home gym equipment pricedridiculously low. They are usually  used but in most cases are essentially as good as new.</p>
<p>But I do understand for some people going to a gym just makes sense. They have no problem affording the price and they find the atmosphere motivating to them plus the state of the art equipment is hard to beat. By all means if this is the case and your opinion then go join a gym. Just makesure to  thoroughly check it out before joining and make sure you  dont get into a binding contract with them that puts you in a bad position. You should preferably go with one where it is a month to month membership with the gym.</p>
<p>I think in the long run, whether it be at a Gym Membership or working out in your basement,  the main point is to adopt an exercise regimen that suits your own needs and style.</p>
<p>And one that you can stick with  for many years to come !! <img src='http://loseweightlookhot.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
